Ken Crutchfield, Head of Legal Markets At Wolters Kluwer, Retires; Jill Weinstein Succeeds Him

After six years as vice president and general manager of legal markets for Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory U.S., Ken Crutchfield has retired, effective yesterday, the company announced.

He will be succeeded in that role by Jill Weinstein, who was previously vice president of product management, research and learning in Wolters Kluwer’s tax and accounting division.

Although retiring from his full-time position at Wolters Kluwer, Crutchfield is launching a consulting firm, Spring Forward Consulting, which will provide advisory services to investors, start-ups, legal tech and reg tech businesses, law firms, and others.

Crutchfield was named to that role on Aug. 19, 2019, having previously been senior vice president and general manager for the Bloomberg Tax Technology division of Bloomberg BNA. Prior to Bloomberg, he had served in executive-level positions at organizations including Thomson Reuters and LexisNexis.

During his tenure, Crutchfield drove the legal division’s digital transformation. Most significantly, he oversaw its 2021 relaunch of its Cheetah legal research platform as VitalLaw and then the incorporation of gen AI into the platform in 2024. He also spearheaded the 2022 launch of a new Legisway version for the U.S. market, to provide an end-to-end matter management program for small and medium legal departments.

His successor, Weinstein, has been with Wolters Kluwer for more than 30 years. In her most recent role, she led initiatives that enhanced the customer experience and fueled business growth, Wolters Kluwer said.

“Jill’s deep industry knowledge and passion for customer-driven innovation make her ideally suited to lead the U.S. Legal Markets segment into the future,” the company said.
